Sad

Tomorrow we take our boy away to boarding school. Now, I'm quite confident in the place he is going to be boarding at -- but it feels so very odd to be sending my boy away to live with a bunch of strangers. And it's the beginning of the end. The day is coming when we will have only two at home. While that will be good in some ways, it is also pretty sad. I have been a bit snivelly all day, packing his stuff. I hate change.

Choose

This was my CC challenge over at Hybrid. I got the inspiration from Jackis' blog and I'm hoping that a word, rather than a resolution, might keep me on track this year.
I would like to feel more in control of what I do, and the choices I make. Here's hoping!
My journalling reads:

This year, I'm adopting a word and making it mine! And I'm choosing "CHOOSE". As in - I choose to say 'no' to things I don't want to do. I choose to enjoy living where I am instead of grumbling about it. I choose to be a little more adventurous, and try new things from time to time. I choose to believe in my God. I choose to do something abut my weight! I choose to develop some routines to help me fit everything into my day. I choose to listen more, from the heart. I choose to grow spiritually, to develop the fruits of the Spirit. I choose to make my surroundings beautiful and more peaceful. I choose to lose - to not be so competitive. I choose a quiet and gentle spirit. I choose to make more friends and develop the friendships I have. I choose to become deaf to gossip. I choose a soft heart and a tough skin. I choose to work my brain more. I choose to be me -- and better!

Merrivale Farm

We used to stay at Merrivale Farmstay when we went down to Esperance for weekends. It's run by Trudi, a lovely German lady who reminded me of family somehow. She is a marvellous cook, and brings over treats like fresh baked friut pies and homemade jams.
I woke up early one morning and took this photo of the view from our front door.
I love this photo, although technically it's not the best, but it reminds me of the peace and beauty of the farm.

6 Picture meme

Lynne from Leigh's Obsession tagged me to play this fun photo game.

What you do is

1. navigate to where you keep your pictures, select the 6th folder, and the 6th picture in that folder.
2. Then post it on your blog with an explanation of the story behind the picture
3. tag 6 other people to do the same, and make sure you let them know about it.

So here is my picture:

and the story -- one of the things we like to do is head bush with the kids and dogs and just 'poke' around (as Jules puts it) So one day we were out and about and we came across this lake out in the middle of no-where -- we later realized that it's Picnic Lake, quite well known to locals, and there is a much easier route to it than the one we found LOL
It's frequently dry or close to it, but on this occasion there was enough water for the kids to have a paddle. This photo is of Jules wandering along the waters' edge.

The six people I'm tagging are:

Ness -- she has a fun blog and 10 000 photos so I'm sure she'll play along!

Kayla Renee -- awesomely talented young lady with a fab style and a new camera!

Ann -- a new friend I've made on Hybrid, she is just the sweetest lady ever.

Jackie -- very talented writer/Photoshopper/scrapper/all-rounder whose blog is always entertaining

Maria -- fellow DT member from Hybrid, lovely girl who is loads of fun.

Caroline -- does her own digi designs, she is very very clever!

Thanks Lynne for teaching me to add the links LOL.

is this kid weird or what?

I was scrapping happily yesterday, turned around to look at the kids, and there was Katie, watching TV with Jacks'goggles on!
Of course I grabbed the camera right away and she made this weird face!
This kid has the funniest sense of humour.... but we suspect she's gonna be a LOT more trouble than her brothers!

making pretties

I've decided to start making pretty craft things for my home again. It keeps me happy and I like having things around that I've made.
I received this lovely hanging display for Christmas, and finished decorating it yesterday. I've wanted something to remind me of the fruits of the Spirit for ages -- hopefully to remind me how far I have to go!

the sweet taste of summer

I did this today using nearly all 'old' stash -- the only new things are the My Little Shoebox stickers and the Sweet Cakes jb.
And yes, I do know May isn't summer -- except in Port Douglas LOL

W00T!

I am so pleased with myself, I may be old but it seems I can still learn new tricks! In the Jan Creating Keepsakes mag, Jessica Sprague offered a free Photoshop template which I downloaded and used to create this LO of Jacks' VacSwim lessons this summer.
I'm already planning to do another using the same template, it was quite easy and very satisfying!

Jackies' blog and giveaways

If you haven't already, please check out Jackies' blog. She is a lovely and very interesting lady in Sth Africa, who scraps and does a lot of Photoshop tutorials (very easy to follow and will definitely add some pizzazz to your photos)
She is celebrating 20k hits on her blog, with a giveaway, and you can check it out here.

the Family (well, part of it)

Missing a few people here (like 8 plus the unborn babies) but still this is a family shot of us on Christmas Eve -- the only one I have of the 5 of us together I think.
